Webstatistics with AWStats

I already have many tools for generating web statistics tried. Starting from Piwik/Matomo, Goaccess, Webalizer up to self-developed tools which also use numbers and numbers using Sed, Awk and Perl produce statistics.

But now I ended up (again) at AWStats. It’s been so many years and I had almost forgotten about the tool. For some reason I had it replaced at that time and used Piwik instead. Probably because it is was a trend and the statistics in Piwik were also nicer.

But what is left of Piwik/Matomo, Goaccess and Webalizer? Nothing.

Of course, products like Matomo and Google Analytics have theirs Reason for existence. Especially bad for SEO-oriented people Want to bring products to the top of search results through various SEO hacks.

But the simple Wald&Wiesen administrator only needs an overview what is happening on his server in order to be able to roughly set the course.

Anyway, I’m very surprised that AWStats still exists. It is based on Perl and is otherwise very generic - which speaks for its longevity.
